Hawzah News Agency- the unveiling ceremony of the German translation of the first volume of Tafsir al-Mizan was held on the eve of Imam Hassan Mujtaba’s (peace be upon him) birthday anniversary, Monday, March 25, at Hamburg Islamic Center.

In this ceremony, Hujjat al-Islam Muhammad Hadi Mofatteh, prayer imam and director of Hamburg Islamic Center, in honor of the late Allameh Tabatabai, introduced him as a jurist, philosopher, mystic, theologian and Quran commentator, whose philosophical and exegetical face is better known in seminaries; He went on to say that among the common people, he is often associated with the interpretation of al-Mizan.”

Hujjat al-Islam Mofatteh, while explaining about the different forms and methods of interpreting Holy Quran, introduced Tafsir al-Mizan as a sequential interpretation form, and in terms of the source, considered Al-Mizan as a Quran-to-Quran interpretation; in terms of criteria, it is described as a comprehensive interpretation in terms of view and method, in which Jurisprudential, theological, mystical, philosophical, social and literary topics have been collected.

The German translation of this precious Quran interpretation was done by the Islamic Academy of Germany and was published in 2024.

It should be noted that method of Tafsir al-Mizan is the interpretation of a Quranic verse in terms of other Quranic verses. 'Allama Tabatabaei believes that since the Quran takes itself to be "illumination of everything" (Quran 16:89), it should not need anything else to illuminate it.
